Westport Winery’s Grand Opening is on Saturday, March 29th at 6:00pm.  The winery is located halfway between Westport and Aberdeen on South Arbor Road.  Their Tasting Room will feature several common varieties such as, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Chardonnay and Gewurtztraminer.  They will also serve diverse selections as Little Wild Blackberry Riesling, Ice Wine, Asian Pear, Cranberry Bubbly to name a few.  Please visit their profile on the Washington State Wine Commission website for more information.  www.washingtonwine.org

Tentative Razor Clam Dig, April 6th- 8th and 19th-23rd.  Washington Department of Fisheries and Wildlife have tentatively scheduled two razor clam digs on morning tides of April 6th- 8th and 19th-23rd.  Please visit www.wdfw.wa.gov/fish for more information and potential tide schedules.

whale2.jpg (13906 bytes)Whale watching March through June is an exciting event at Westport.  Annually Grey whales migrate from Mexico to the Bering Sea.  They may reach 43 feet in length and 45 tons in weight.

Gazebo.jpg (14921 bytes)1998 Westport Salmon Derby Winner: Ron Gates, from Kent, Washington won $1500 this year.  His winning fish weighed 39lb. in the round and dressed out at 35lb. It was caught 8/13/98 aboard the C/V SLAMMER, chartered out of Deep Sea Charters Inc., Captain Rhett Weber.  Ron had the foresight to purchase a derby ticket.
